 bsp;is implementing a broad data management and governance initiative in or
 der to facilitate better communication and collaboration within the wildlan
 d fire community. That community involves numerous interagency federal, sta
 te, and local programs for strategically reducing vegetation to limit its a
 vailability to fuel a wildfire and coordinated wildfire response.&nbsp;\nA 
 key change in the community was a shift in perspective from application-cen
 tric to data-centric using a knowledge graph-based approach. The focus chan
 ged from what an application produces to what the underlying taxonomic and 
 relational structure is between fundamental data elements that flow between
  applications. These data elements and related terminology reflect our coll
 ective knowledge of the universe of a given subject area. The initiative en
 compasses an agency-wide data registry to catalog datasets and data sources
  (e.g., relational databases);&nbsp;manage glossaries of terms, operational
 , training and data standards;&nbsp;and support effective stewardship, owne
 rship, and intra-agency collaboration.\nIn this talk, we will cover how Wil
 dland Fire is achieving these data-driven goals and important lessons learn
 ed, including:\n\n
 The process required that we step back and ask ourselves fundamental questi
 ons about what, how, and why we do what we do&nbsp;\n
 A necessary first step was conceptualizing our foundational core organizati
 on and program framework and the inter-relationships between agencies.&nbsp
 ;\n
 Consider how complex enterprise assets, such as organizations, positions, t
 raining, and policies, are to represent\n
 Enterprise knowledge graphs provide key capabilities including a flexible/a
 daptable model-driven, framework to adapt the model for anything as simple 
 as a glossary term up to the complexity of stakeholder agreements and proje
 ct management.&nbsp;\n
 The need for fully-featured APIs to work with the content externally.\n\n
